Tonight was the trophy presentations for all the teams in the Yukon Optimist Baseball League. The Trinity Tornadoes had a great year & were so excited to get their 2nd place trophies. We ended the season 9-5-1, which was way better than we were thinking we would do. The season did prove to have it's trials, however, the kids were oblivious to this & played their hearts out having so much fun in the process. When the commissioner called out the teams for the trophies, they called the Tornadoes as 3rd place (this is incorrect BTW). Tatum noticed when we got in the car that the trophy had a 3 on it & not a 2. After I explained to her, she didn't seem to care. She was just so happy to have her own trophy. Two of her friends that were on other teams got participation trophies & she said that it didn't matter that they didn't place, she was proud of them anyway. WOW, If we could be like this as adults! We should all take lessons.
We had our own little team party a couple of weeks ago & the coaches made individual MVP awards for the players. Tatum's certificate was Most Valuable Player to Tatum "Speedy" Anderson. She got this because she not only was the fastest girl on our team, but I would argue the fastest girl in our league. She would run those bases like there was a mad dog chasing her. Very rarely did she get caught. She is very proud that she has a nickname now. Just call her Speedy.
I really don't know if I've ever seen someone so excited & proud over a trophy!
We are so proud of you Speedy Anderson & the rest of your Tornadoes!
