Fair Day

The Great State Fair of Oklahoma (if you are familiar with the commercials, sing it don't read it). Every year my mom & sometimes dad go to the fair with my kids. We always go on Wednesday because like I like to so affectionately like to call it "Old People Fair Day". This means I'm the only one who has to pay to get in. Side note: Why do people always try to stay young until the Senior Citizen discount comes into play? Anyway, the kids always enjoy going.

This year we had to wait until Tatum got out of school. We got to the fair right at lunch time, so while we were waiting for the Sea Lion show to start we enjoyed a State Fair treat, the corn dog. These weren't your regular corn dog, they were the long pronto pup style. After that $21 dollar meal (ridiculous) we were entertained by the cutest sea lions. Following the show, it was off to the rides. I'm usually not one for riding the rides at the fair since they are taken apart & put back together often, but I figure the kiddie rides can't be that dangerous. Each one of them got to ride 2 rides, thanks to ticket prices ($3 per ride per child, again I say ridiculous). Tatum had been talking about the alligator roller coaster for weeks saying that this year she was old enough to ride it. It was broken down, but she did get to enjoy the octopus ride. Cross enjoyed driving the dunebuggies & they both rode on the whales. The next stop was Agtropolis to see agriculture stuff. They saw newly hatched chicks, caterpillars, bunnies, cows, pigs, sheep, goats, got to go through the farmer's market experience & received the key to the city. We ended the day with a funnel cake & fresh squeezed lemonade followed the petting zoo & our last thing a pony ride. Tatum rode Chip & Cross rode Jack. You really should hear Cross tell about that experience. He says, "I rode Jack & when I got of he pee peed!"

The weather was great & we had a lot of fun. Cross still sees the ferris wheel when we pass the fairgrounds even though it's not there & they both talk about going.

Thanks Grammy for a fun day!

2 of the sea lions, don't they kind of look like they are in the background .
Cross in his Lello whale.
Tatum riding in a fish on the octopus ride.
Aprons on for the farmer's market experience.
Cross was really gentle with this bunny. Tatum was more thrilled than what she looks.
