Family Vacation Part 1

This year we took our first big family vacation, destination--San Antonio, TX. (Yes, we understand that it's usually hotter there then here in OKC, but it seems like that was almost everywhere this year.) Anyway, we were taking the kids to Sea World & what better to cool you off than lots & lots of water.

We left on Saturday & headed to Houston to visit our friends the Fishers for a couple of days before we went to San Antone. We had a good time with them, we got to visit their church & hear this fabulous guest preacher they were having for the day, Ken Freeman (the very person who's house we were going to be staying at in SA, TX.), visit with some other friends, & the kids got to swim.

Here was our first stop on our way. What?, We had to have breakfast & the light was on!

Here was our 1st touristy type stop. Yes, it's a convenience store, but this store was not too far outside of Houston & we started seeing signs for it just south of Norman, OK. We had heard from other people that we needed to stop here & allow ourselves about 30 minutes or so to look through the store. They were right, this store is like a QT on crack, every possible convenience store snack you could think of & more, complete with a full out deli (not gas station Subway), icees, gift shop, & the cleanest restrooms around. The background of this place is that the owners were tired of traveling & not having a decent place to eliminate their waste, so they came up with the Buc-ees solution. I'd have to say they were very successful, cleanest bathrooms I've ever been in on the road, I almost wanted to tip the bathroom attendants.

We told the kids that they could get a snack here. As Tatum was walking down the aisles & aisles of snacks she said, "They don't have anything here." Crazy kid!
